Are you looking for Mexican restaurants in Paris? Our guide has the best spots to enjoy genuine Mexican food that isn’t boring or bland.

There’s been relatively recent shift in the food scene in Paris – gone are the days where you’ll only find French bistros and Italian pizzerias. Nowadays there are fantastic, fresh new restaurants across Paris serving up amazing cuisine from different cultures – including great Mexican food.

The Best Mexican Restaurants in Paris

There are now quite a lot of Mexican restaurants in Paris, many have copied American/UK style QSR burrito concepts and can be very hit and miss. Chipotle have opened a few branches in Paris as well and whilst not bad, there are so many better options here. Many are small taquerias in hidden corners of the city and are absolute gems. All restaurants here have been tried and tested and are listed in no particular order.

Candelaria

In the heart of the Marais lies Candelaria – an awesome small taqueria with a speakeasy in the back. They serve up delicious tacos, quesadillas and guac & chips which are big in flavour and are consistently good. Their limited taco menu changes every few months and always includes a vegetarian option. You can expect pulled chicken tacos spiced with achiote and finished with white onion and pineapple and awesome braised beef tacos. If you’re just eating in the taqueria I recommend you try one of their frozen margaritas.

  • Try their home made salsas – they’re awesome

El Cártel del Taco

El Cártel del Taco is a vibrant taqueria in the capital’s 10th arrondissement – close to the Canal Saint Martin. Started by a Mexican couple during the COVID period, El Cártel del Taco has become deservingly extremely popular. There’s the ubiquitous guac & chips (but all home made and one of the best I’ve tasted) on offer to start along with a cactus version. When it comes to the tacos you’ve got 5 choices including beef birria, al pastor and crispy pork carnitas. To wash the insanely delicious food down there’s multiple cocktails to choose from and a selection of craft beers.

Nomás even have Mexican inspired desserts such as a chipotle carrot cake! The tacos are really good and currently have 8 different choices on offer including vegetarian and vegan tacos. Classic Mexican street food tacos such as carnitas and beef birria are on the menu but there’s also some modern Tex-Mex inspired tacos which are awesome. Their corn tortillas are freshly made in house along with their pico de gallo & arbol chilli salsas.

There’s the usual classic Mexican staples but with a modern twists such as a fresh, mango infused guac & chips and guac with a smokey chipotle ‘glaze’ – delicious. The mains are all about XL quesadillas, burritos (without rice!) and tacos on corn tortillas.
