Insider Guide to the Best Beer Bars in Paris

You might not associate Paris with beer but in recent years craft beer has become really popular in the city

You might not associate Paris with beer but in recent years craft beer has become really popular in the city and there are some fantastic beer bars in Paris to discover. Wether you’re a tourist wanting to change from the amazing wine in the city or if you live here and want to try something other than 1664 on terrasses, our guide has the best craft beer spots!

All over France craft beer has become massively popular in very recent years. Beer, having an undeserved reputation for being low-quality and uninteresting from many in France, has now changed with many micro-breweries sprouting up all over the country. It’s now common to find excellent IPAs on tap across even the most traditional bistros in Paris.

Hoppy Corner

Hoppy Corner is a fantastic independently run craft beer bar in the 2nd arrondissement, just at the top of rue Montorgueil. With 15 craft beers on tap and a huge selection of bottle and canned beer, it’s a great spot to discover new brews. Like many bars in this list, the beer selection rotates frequently but the selection is always fantastic – expect an eclectic array of different styles from breweries all around France. From NEIPAs, IPAs, stouts and lagers, I’ve always found that they have beer for everyones tastes. If you’re feeling hungry they also have a solid pub-style menu including chunky chips with paprika mayo.

La Fine Mousse

La Fine Mousse is an extremely cosy and intimate beer bar based in the 11th Arrondissement, just off rue Oberkampf. The low-ceiling, exposed stone wall give the La Fine Mousse a really intimate pub-like feeling and makes it a perfect spot for a pint during colder, darker days. There’s 20 taps on offer with beer rotating extremely frequently (I’ve occasionally had one of the last few pints of one particular brew before they completely run out) but there are usually a few beers consistently on offer. Their sister restaurant (La Fine Mousse Restaurant) is literally just opposite the bar and is a fantastic high-quality restaurant with beer pairings for the food.

Brewdog Marais

The well-known craft beer brand, Brewdog, launched their bars in the UK back in 2010 and started exporting their concept into Europe in 2013. Their only bar in France opened in the Marais in 2019 and is extremely popular with locals. Perfectly positioned in the famous Marais area (and luckily also next to many of the cities Falafel restaurants), it’s a great bar to stop by to have an excellent pint of craft beer. There are always 22 lines of craft beer on (including all their famous brews – Punk IPA included). They also have rotating seasonal brews from Brewdog and a small selection of beer from different craft breweries around Europe. There’s also a small kitchen which serve home made pizzas, cheese and charcuterie planches.

La Robe & La Mousse

La Robe & La Mousse is a small craft beer in the 6th arrondissement next to the popular Saint Germain des Prés and Odéon areas. Perfectly situated next to the L’Avant Comptoir de la Terre/Mer for a quick bit of French Tapas after a few pints, it’s a great craft beer bar. They have 16 different brews on tap which rotate extremely frequently. There’s often a lot of very interesting small productions brews to taste – I’d advise getting a demi (half pint) to taste many different beers! La Robe & La Mousse is often very busy but fortunately they have another room below the main bar area with more seating.

LBF

LBF (or La Brasserie Fondamentale) is a Parisian microbrewery that was founded in 2016 by three French beer enthusiasts. The brand has grown from strength to strength and now has their bottle beers stocked in supermarkets across Paris. Their success also allowed them to open their own bars across the capital and they’re really good. There’s currently 4 LBF bars in Paris and 1 in Bordeaux with each bar offering 15 different brews on tap including guest beers from other microbreweries. There’s also a small food offering with a focus on local, quality produce.
