Our Favourite Ice Cream Spots in Paris

There’s plenty of ice cream spots in the city and you’ll usually find some good chains like Amorino in pretty much every arrondissement. Whilst they’re not bad there are some really good hidden spots that you should check out if you’re an ice cream lover!

This list isn’t exhaustive but it’s a round up of my favourite spots in Paris. Ice cream parlours are in no particular order.

First on the list is Berthillon, one of the oldest ice cream parlours in the city. Their main store is located on the beautiful Île Saint-Louis, just a stone’s throw from the Notre-Dame cathedral.

They serve traditional, super smooth dairy based ice cream and delicious fresh sorbets. My favourite has to be their white chocolate ice cream – it’s incredibly creamy, rich yet not too much. Their sorbets are also solid and perfect for those who don’t eat dairy products.

The old fashioned store on the Île Saint-Louis is beautiful but does get very busy, especially during peak summer months. The queue moves fairly rapidly but you will queue for a while.

Glace Bachir

Glace Bachir is probably one of my favourite ice cream spots in the city. Serving up traditional, organic Lebanese ice cream it’s popular for good reason.

Their signature Atcha ice cream is what I go for and comes covered in crushed pistachios. If you don’t know what to expect, think Mahalabia – it’s creamy, thick and has a light rosewater flavour.

Note that their portions are extremely generous and even a small size seems a lot for one person! Their 2 locations get very busy but their queue management is great. The lines move quickly and you’ll have servers giving samples, explaining the menu and take payment while you wait.

Glazed is a modern ice cream and sorbet parlour that is awesome. With a focus on seasonal, quality ingredients, they have a great menu with some superb sorbets.

They currently have 3 locations in the city with their shop on rue des Martyrs being my usual go-to outlet when I’m in the area.

Bältis is another fantastic Lebanese ice cream shop serving up some superb creations made with Meilleur Ouvrier de France chef, Jean-Thomas Schneider.

Like with Glace Bachir they have an awesome Achta flavoured ice cream with a pistachio crumb. If you’re wanting something different, they have a chocolate ice cream which is superb and some really good sorbets.

They currently have 2 very central addresses with one just off Rue Montorgueil and one in the Marais.

Pastelli Mary Gelateria

I had to put one Gelateria in the list and Pastelli Mary is great. Started by Mary, a winner of the Best Artisanal Ice Cream Competition in Italy in 2008, she then came to Paris to start her own ice cream shop.

Located in the heart of the Marais, Mary’s small Gelateria can get very busy during the summer so prepare to queue! Is it worth it? Yes the gelato on sale is incredibly smooth and creamy. Expect all the classic flavours – vanilla, pistachio, chocolate and salted caramel.
