Our Favourite Restaurants in Cannes

The beautiful town of Cannes has some of the best restaurants in the South of France. Our guide covers the top restaurants for you to enjoy when visiting.

Best Restaurants in Cannes

Here’s our insider guide to the best spots to eat in Cannes, France. There’s plenty of areas with great restaurants in Cannes – wether it’s on the Croisette, in the town centre or even in the outskirts you’ll generally not be disappointed. Our guide has got tried & tested restaurants serving up delicious food and help you avoid the tourist traps (in no particular order).

Le Maschou

Le Maschou is a legendary restaurant in Cannes’ old town serving up incredible fixed-menu style food in a moody, intimate dining area. The food here is all about sharing and oh boy are they generous. The first course is a huge basket of crudités with dipping sauces and over 10 different types of vegetables – carrots, mushrooms, huge radishes. Be warned, even if you’re just a table of 2 – you’ll still get the same amount as a table of 6!

The main course is either a huge rib-eye steak, chicken or salmon grilled over a charcoal grill giving an incredible BBQ flavour to the food. Whatever you choose, it’ll come with a large side of BBQ roasted potatoes. The desserts are equally as generous and I’d advise to take the chocolate mousse!

What to know before you visit

  • Reservations by phone and email
  • You will need to reserve a few days in advance during Summer
  • Their last dinner service is between midnight – 2:30am!

Address: 15 Rue Saint-Antoine, 06400 Cannes

Table 22

Just up the road from Le Maschou lies Table 22 a great modern French bistro started by Nöel Mantel who previously worked for Alain Ducasse. The food here is modern Provençal and Mediterranean utilising the best of fresh, local produce. The starters are covered off by an incredibly luxurious lobster & leek ravioli and super crispy stuffed courgette flowers. The mains are flawlessly executed and generous in size – the roasted rack of lamb comes with seasonal vegetables and a killer lamb jus. Seabass or John Dory fillets are cooked to flaky perfection and again served with a delicious seafood sauce. The wine menu is huge but their excellent sommelier is on hand to help you out.

La Guérite

Whilst not strictly in the town of Cannes, La Guerite is a fantastic beach restaurant on the Ile de Sainte Marguerite – a beautiful island close to Cannes. Getting to La Guerite is relatively easy – you can either take a ferry over and then walk across to the restaurant or pay €15 each to go on their own small boat (RIBs) ferries. I’d recommend taking the latter option as it’s really fun and you get views out of Cannes new port and the island itself. The restaurant itself is beautiful but be warned – it gets rowdy in the best way possible. A DJ starts playing during the 2nd lunch service and you’ll no doubt see groups of diners dancing on their tables. The food is local, fresh and on the pricier side. I’d recommend going for the Niçoise classic Saint Pierre aux Artichauts Barigoule (fillets of John Dory with Artichokes).

What to know before you visit

  • Their online reservation system doesn’t usually show any availabilities – you will need to call or message on WhatsApp
  • Will need to reserve weeks in advance during peak season
  • It’s very much on the pricier side (€100+ p/person)
  • Their private ferries depart from Port Pierre Canto (not from the old port)

L’Affable

Located in the centre of the town, L’Affable is a French bistro serving up modern renditions of classic, local dishes. Started by chef Jean-Paul Battaglia who spent over 30 years cooking in the near by town of Mougins, L’Affable is a great restaurant with consistent, high quality food. For starters classics such as seafood with lobster salad on offer and artichokes cooked in chicken stock and white wine. The mains are all about the French classics from the south of France – seabags with sauce vierge, roast rack of lamb with Provençal vegetables and beef fillet with morel mushrooms.
