The Best Restaurants in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat

Are you visiting Saint Jean Cap Ferrat in the South of France and want to know where the best spots to eat are? We’ve got you covered with our insider guide to the best restaurants in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat.

The picturesque peninsula of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat is a stunning part of the French Riviera and one of my personal favourite spots to spend the day outside of Nice. With its incredible beaches, pretty marina and sublime coastline it’s certainly worth the visit. If you’re visiting Nice (check our guide to Restaurants in Nice) it’s only a 25 minute drive to the town of Saint Jean or a 40 minute bus ride from the Old Town.

Paloma Beach

In one of the prettiest parts of the coast line of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat lies Paloma Beach – a private beach area & restaurant. With stunning views across the Golfe de Saint-Hospice towards Monaco and the Cap d’Ail, it’s an incredible spot for lunch or dinner.

The food here is all about Provençale cuisine and beach-club classics. On the Provençal side there’s a very solid Salad Niçoise, fresh artichoke salad and courgette flower beignets (battered). There’s also a variety grilled fish and meat including beef fillet, veal and sea bream.

What to know before you visit

  • Dinner reservations online
  • Lunch is walk-in only
  • There’s a free small tuktuk shuttle from the town itself to the restaurant, otherwise it’s 10 minute walk from the marina

Capitaine Cook

Capitaine Cook is about a 5 minute walk away from the port in Saint-Jean and is a great choice for a casual lunch or dinner. It’s a traditional French bistro with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Unlike many surrounding restaurants, the prices are very reasonable.

The food is simple and unpretentious yet well done. For starters they’ve got French classics: oysters with the traditional mignonette sauce, cold terrines with foie gras and rabbit and roasted, garlicky mussels. For the mains there’s a mixture of grilled meat such as beef fillet and guinea fowl. The fish is super fresh and comes directly from the fisherman who land their catch only 100m down from the restaurant.

Le Cap

Le Cap is a 1 Michelin star restaurant located in the mythical Four Seasons hotel on the East side of the peninsula. Fortunately you don’t have to be staying to be able to reserve a table although it can be difficult to reserve during peak summer months.

At the helm is chef Yoric Tièche – a native of Provence – who’s passionate about Provençale cuisine. There’s two tasting menus – 4 or 5 steps – and an à la carte menu. As with any fine dining restaurant, I’d recommend the tasting menus. The dishes are an excellent reflection of modern Provençale cuisine mixed with local produce. The filet of red mullet with olives, tomato and basil is a fine example of exactly just that.

La Table du Royal

Closer towards Villefranche-Sur-Mer lies the Royal Riviera – a historical 5* hotel with an excellent fine dining restaurant. With the outside dining area providing incredible views of the bay across from Beaulieu-Sur-Mer it’s a fantastic place for dinner.

The tasting and à la carte menus revolve around fresh, local produce. The first steps or starters highlight the incredible seafood that’s caught locally – from red prawns from San Remo to lemons from Menton. The sauces in the meat dishes are Michelin star worthy and work very well with the well executed protein cookery.
