June in Paris is when the city properly wakes up. The Parisians are starting to relax, the terraces are buzzing, and the weather finally feels like summer. There’s a shift in the mood – lighter, livelier, and just a bit smug (in the best way). It’s the kind of month where even locals take the long way home just to enjoy it a bit more. Other than May, it’s easily my favorite month of the year to be here.

Here’s what Paris in June is actually like – and a bunch of things you should do while you’re here.
What Paris Weather is Like in June
June weather in Paris is mostly great – sunny and warm without hitting the extreme summer heat of July and August. Average highs hover around 23°C (73°F), with evenings dropping to a comfortable 14°C (57°F). You’ll get long days (sunset after 9.30pm by the end of the month), occasional showers, and that perfect golden hour light that makes everything look a bit more magical.

Parisians start switching to lighter jackets or none at all. If you’re coming from somewhere colder, you’ll think it’s summer. If you’re from the Mediterranean, it’ll still feel like spring.
What to Wear in Paris in June
Think layers. You’ll want light clothes for the day – linen, cotton, comfortable walking shoes – and a light jacket or sweater for the evenings. Parisians are already in their flowy summer dresses and button-up shirts (no shorts unless it’s sweltering – yes Paris is strange like that!).
If you’re planning a picnic or late night stroll by the Seine, pack something you won’t mind sitting on the grass in. And don’t forget sunglasses – the Parisian sun can be surprisingly strong when it decides to show up.
Things to Do in Paris in June
Experience Fête de la Musique
Held every year on June 21st, this city-wide music festival takes over Paris in the best way. Every neighbourhood, every bar, every corner seems to have a band, a DJ, or someone singing into a mic (some better than others, obviously). It’s loud, chaotic, and ridiculously fun. It really is like one massive street party, across the entire city.

The Marais, Canal Saint-Martin, and Latin Quarter usually have the best energy. It goes on into the early hours – just follow the music and enjoy.
Picnic by Canal Saint-Martin
This is peak picnic season. Skip the crowded Champs de Mars and head to the Canal Saint-Martin. It’s the kind of place locals actually go. Grab a bottle of chilled rosé, a baguette, cheese from La Crèmerie and a few nibbles from nearby Marché Saint-Martin. Then find a spot by the water and enjoy the people-watching.

Don’t be surprised if the impromptu acoustic guitar guy shows up. It’s all part of the scene.
Take a Drink on a Rooftop
One of the best ways to enjoy the long evenings? Rooftops. Le Toit de la Bellevilloise in the 20th is a favourite – relaxed, not overly touristy, and with proper panoramic views over the city. It’s got a bit of edge and just enough greenery to make it feel like a secret garden.

Get there before sunset, grab a spritz or glass of natural wine, and settle in for the view.

Wander in Montmartre Before the Crowds Get Worse
Montmartre starts to get busy in June – but it’s still manageable, especially if you go early in the day or midweek. This is the time to stroll through Rue des Abbesses, visit the Sacré-Cœur before it’s packed, and maybe even pop into one of the quieter hotels for a drink (the rooftop at Terrass Hotel is also worth it).

Go for an Early Summer Walk Through the Marais
The Marais is already one of the best districts in Paris, but June makes it even better. The streets are buzzing without being overwhelming. Outdoor tables fill quickly, but if you time it right (before noon or after 2pm), you’ll get a good spot.

Walk down Rue de Bretagne, pick up a pastry from Maison Plisson, and enjoy it in the Place des Vosges. This is the city at its most relaxed.

See an Outdoor Film at Parc de la Villette (Late June)
Towards the end of the month, Paris starts hosting free outdoor cinema nights at Parc de la Villette. The films are projected onto a giant inflatable screen, and everyone sprawls out on the grass with blankets and wine.
Even if you don’t understand the French subtitles, it’s still really fun!
Good to Know
Book ahead: June is when the crowds start building up. Book restaurants, hotels, and museum slots in advance, especially if you’re here mid-to-late month.
Transport: The metro gets warmer but is still manageable. Opt for walking when possible – the weather is perfect for it.
Sales: The summer “soldes” (sales) start towards the end of June and run through July. It’s a good time to pick up that French label you’ve been eyeing.
Is June a Good Time to Visit Paris?
Yes. If you want Paris with good weather, longer days, and before the full force of tourist season – June is ideal. It’s a month where you can do a little bit of everything: museums, long walks, outdoor drinks, and local events. Fête de la Musique alone makes it worth it.
So pack light, stay out late, and make the most of the city while it’s at its peak – but not too hot.
