Our Favourite Asian Markets in Paris

If you live in Paris or are visiting and want to buy some Asian groceries then our guide has the lowdown on the best Asian markets in the city. Chinese, Korean or Japanese – Paris has got a wealth of different markets with dry, fresh and frozen specialty ingredients!

Asian Grocery Stores in Paris

There are multiple Asian grocery stores across the capital city and there’s not one particular area where you’ll find them. The majority are Chinese grocery stores but sell ingredients and products used and from across Asia. For example you’ll easily find Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese products in these large Asian grocery stores.

Chen Market

One of my favourites Asian grocery store chains in Paris, Chen Market currently have 4 stores open throughout the capital. Well spread out, there are stores in Montmartre, Belleville, Lafayette and in the 13th arrondissement. All their stores are on the larger side and have a great selection of products. They stock fresh noodles, a huge tofu selection, hard to find vegetables, frozen spring rolls and a wide choice of cooking sauces. Regardless of what you’re looking for, you’ll most likely find it at Chen Market. Also worth noting that their Montmartre store has a fresh bubble tea area for take-away.

Tang Frères

Tang Frères is probably the most famous Asian market in Paris. Around since 1972, they now have 4 stores in Paris and 3 Tang Gourmet outlets serving great Chinese food. Their stores are large and stock fresh Asian vegetables and fruit, tinned goods and frozen food. Their prices are on the reasonable side however most of their locations are slightly out of the way if you’re in central Paris.

Les Halles de l’Asie

Hidden amongst a sea of bars, beauty salons and Asian restaurants lies Les Halles de l’Asie. A small, cramped yet surprisingly large Asian supermarket, they’ve got an incredible variety of products on sale. I’ve generally gone here when I can’t find speciality ingredients or herbs that aren’t on sale in other Asian markets. They’ve even got a small butcher and fishmonger section.

Korean Markets in Paris

Looking for speciality ingredients to make delicious Korean food in Paris or simply want to find your favourite Korean candy? We know just the spot for you.

K-Mart is the biggest chain of Korean markets in Paris. With 5 stores currently open – including one on the Champs-Elysées – it’s one of the most reliable places to stock up on Korean food products. If you’re near the famous Rue Sainte-Anne and want to quickly pick up some Korean food then Ace Market is a great place to go. Open all week around until 9pm and in a very central location, it’s a handy Korean grocery store to go to.

Kioko

One of the best and biggest Japanese markets in Paris, there’s an incredible selection of Japanese products available. Located very close to rue Sainte-Anne and about a 10 minutes walk from the Louvre, it’s very well situated. Kioko have a mind-bogglingly large array of products in stock with vast amounts of instant ramen, noodles and soy sauces to choose from. There’s even a fresh produce section with Japanese micro-mushrooms and fresh soba noodles available. Finally, there’s a homeware section on the second floor with tableware imported from Japan.
